Due to the dire global economic conditions, I'm reposting this blog on the science of getting rich. We all need reminders to keep us focus on seeing the glass running over with abundance.
When the book, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne hit the bestseller list little did the readers know that it was based on The Science of Getting Rich
by Wallace Wattles, a teacher of the New Thought Movement.
If you are serious about building a prosperity consciousness, you’ll
want to study Wattles’ book for an expanded version of not only the Law
of Attraction but other principles and laws that show you how to
manifest your desires. You can find free copies on the Net to download,
if you don't want to purchase it.
Wattles' language is archaic, but move pass that and focus on the
several principles he offers in the book. They ring true even in today’s
chaotic economic times. Here’s a paraphrase version of the major
principles of the book with my comments:
1. Man can form things with his thoughts.
Your thoughts are energy forms and what you habitually focus on you
create a form for it based on the Laws of the Universe. Most things are
already in existence. What you are doing is letting the Universe know
what you desire, and by putting your attention on it, you are then
vibrating on the wavelength of that desire. The Law of Attraction will
kick in.
2. Man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind.
The Creator is always creative and never competitive in Spirit. The
Universe is limitless. Worrying, watching, obsessing and criticizing
what others have is misplaced energy; this type of thinking keeps your
desires from manifesting. Stay focus on what you desire.
3. Acknowledge your blessings.
To build an empire you need to start at the base of the pyramid and work
your way up. Create a Gratitude Book to build on your blessings. Every
day take time to write out at least ten things you’re grateful for. Try
doing this for forty days. Forty is the number for manifestation. The
Zero represents God and the four stands for foundation.
4. Form a clear and definite mental image of what you desire.
This should be number one on your list, because if you don’t know what
you want neither does the universe. Set your intentions. The key words
in this principle are clear and definite. May sure your mental thoughts
and your emotional feelings are in alignment.
5. Contemplate frequently on your vision
Get a clear mental picture of your desire and keep it continually in
your mind. Don’t lose sight of it no matter what adversities you might
face. Affirmations are good to keep you focus on your vision. Create
them and post them around your house and office, if you can. In your
Gratitude Notebook gives thanks for the manifestation of your dream as
if it's already done. The Law of attraction will pull to you what you
put your attention on.
6. You can only receive what you can perceive.
You may want to be a millionaire, but if you don’t have a consciousness
for it, you won’t be able to achieve or maintain it. A great game to
play is the money pyramid. Starting with a $100 you must spend all of it
in one day. Add a zero to the 100 every day until you reach a million.
Each day you must spend that amount of money. This game will teach you a
lot about how you think about money and how you manage your money.
Building a prosperity consciousness is not an overnight process. You
have to work at it. I find that most people don’t stick to the plan to
achieving their goals because they are stuck in old belief patterns.
After a few days or weeks, they fall back into their original financial
club. Challenge yourself for the next forty days to change your
financial life. There are plenty of books and other aids to help you. If
you really want to change then start with your consciousness.

Being Grateful
You can
come into full harmony with Formless Substance by entertaining a lively and
sincere sense of gratitude. Gratitude unifies your mind with the thinking mind,
so your thoughts are received by the Formless Substance. You can remain on the creative
plane only by uniting yourself with the Formless Intelligence through a deep
and continuing feeling of gratitude.
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles
This coming Sunday, I will be taping a show for DC Public TV. The
hostess, Alice ‘Doll” Tyson, will interview several inspirational speakers to
discuss how positive thinking can help those who are experiencing life
challenges. Each of us will discuss one
aspect of positive thinking that can change a person’s life around. I chose-gratitude.
Gratitude from the Latin word gratis means the state of being
grateful or thankful. As a child growing
up, my siblings and I were taught by our parents, grandparents, teachers and
minister to give thanks before eating, after someone gave you something or did
something nice for you. We were also taught to be grateful for our lives. By
the times I was in my twenties, I was attending Unity and Science of Minds, New
Thought churches that reinforced my basic teaching of gratefulness. I was also
heavily involved with metaphysical principles such as the statement above by
Wallace Wattles.
I wanted to give you a little background of my philosophical
beliefs so that you can understand why I approach my life with gratitude when I
am confronted with major life challenges. Some of you may have read in my book,
Path to Truth, that in 1984, my son,
Antoine Aparicio, was born with multiple-disabilities. He had a deformed skull from
severe hydrocephalus and small tumors, Neurofibromatosis. The doctors gave him 3 months to live and told
me he would be a vegetable. Antoine lived to be 16 years old.
What got me over a lot of bumps in the road was being grateful
for my son’s life and his accomplishments. His physical therapist told me he
wouldn’t crawl, but he did when he was almost two years old. I pulled out my gratitude book and wrote, Thank you God for the perfect healing of
Antoine Aparicio. We are grateful for
him crawling. I had books full of those types of gratitude statements. I
started writing gratitude statements even before he actually could accomplished a developmental goal. By the time he had walked at the age of 12, I had already given thanks a
million times.
I believe that the act of
gratitude has a strong energy vibration. Being grateful and acknowledging it sends
out strong wavelengths of goodness that attract only goodness back to you. This is
the law of reciprocity—what you give comes back to you, whether it is positive
or negative.
Writing those gratitude statements also helped to keep my mind focused
and not let it run away with negative thinking. And if I did get in a slump, I would
pull out my gratitude book and read the statements aloud, soon my spirits were
up, and I knew based on the law only good would come out of feeling grateful.
For those of you going
through life challenges, Antoine’s story is for you. If you’re reading these
words, I am grateful for your life.

What Prosperity Club Are You In?
I
hope you spent some time answering the questions I posted in the blog-- Building
a Prosperity Consciousness. Those questions will help you to look at your belief
system regarding wealth. Sometime in your life you made a choice to be in one
of three financial clubs based on those beliefs: The haves, The Have Nots and
The In-Betweens—even though you may not be aware of it. You probably selected
the club that your parents or family belong to because you have been
conditioned to think about prosperity according to their belief system. This is
not to say that you can’t move in and out of the different clubs as determined
by your consciousness. Let’s look at the clubs:
The
Haves
·
Desire
abundance
·
Think
abundance
·
Focus on
abundance
·
Visualize
abundance
·
Verbalize
abundance
·
See the
glass half-full
·
Take
responsibility for conditions in life.
·
Take
action
The In-Betweens
·
Desire
abundance but plant seeds of abundance and lack
·
Think
abundance but has doubts and worries about the outcome
·
Focus on
how to make things happen
·
Visualize
a mixed bag
·
Verbalize
doubts
·
See the
glass half-full most of the time
·
Take
responsibility for some of the conditions in life
·
Stop
just before the goal line
The Have Nots
·
Plant
seed of lack
·
Think
lack
·
Focus on
lack
·
Visualize
lack
·
Verbalize
lack
·
See the
glass half-empty
·
Blame
the world for life conditions
·
Wait on
others to take charge of their financial woes
Do
you recognize the club you belong to? Looking at both your beliefs and the club
you belong to, you now have a good idea where you stand according to your prosperity
consciousness. I swing back and forth
between the Haves and the In-Betweens. My goal is to stay in the Haves. Knowing
there was a consistent negative belief that kept me stuck in the same
prosperity pattern, I had to root it out. What helped me to identify it and
expand my prosperity consciousness was re-examining the principles in The Secret of Getting Rich by Wallace
Wattles.
