It's Not Enough to Dream, You Have to Take Action

Every journey has a beginning and ending. It's what you do between the start and finish that becomes your legacy. Most of us know our purpose in life. Usually, it's something we have a passion for, and nothing can replace that. Wherever you're on your journey one of the best things you can do is have an action plan to accomplish your goals. It's a powerful tool to get from point A to B.

Before devising your action plan, I recommend that you meditate as the first step. Meditation is not a fad, but a serious tool to help you get in touch with the creative genius within you. Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein, and Carl Jung are just a few who used meditation or quiet time to access their minds to create great works.

I designate quiet time, meaning no phones, computers, or anything or anyone who may distract me from going deep into my consciousness. Anywhere between ten to thirty minutes later I am writing down the thoughts that I received. For my latest book, Secrets and Serpents, I received the message listen to my inner voice for more guidance will be revealed. In a second meditation, I was told to blog about my writing experience as part of my spiritual journey.

Days later, Amazon announced that indie publishers and self-published authors could now do pre-orders for new releases, a privilege once allowed only for traditional publishers. The first major bullet on my action plan was to take advantage of this offer, and the second one was to blog like crazy.

That same day I found an invitation to a free webinar given by Matt Wolfe and Bradley Wills. The topic was learning to blog. http://learntoblog.com  I watched the webinar and learned a lot about the business of blogging. One of the books Matt mentioned was John Locke's book-How I Made 1 Million Selling eBooks. I had already read the book and knew Locke's recommendation to write a killer blog. I used it to launch Five Days of Darkness Book 1 of the Rankin Family series with my blog on psychic abilities and autism. I saw a bump in book sales.

The great thing about an action plan is you have something concrete to evaluate your progress in achieving your chief aim. Three weeks after writing the first blog (http://jjmichaelblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/quantum-jumping-to-bestseller-book.html) and launching the pre-order site for Secrets and Serpents, I evaluated the process. Secrets and Serpents made Amazon's Hot New Release list and the psychic bestseller list. Did the blog contribute to the success of the book? I like to think it helped. I had a few other promotional events going on at the same time. Nevertheless, the blog helped me to stay focus on my chief aim.

What do you do when you go from being at the top of the bestseller list to not being on it? Find out in next week's blog.

I would like to hear from you. Let me know if these articles are helping you and how your are doing to accomplish your chief aim.

Take This Quantum Jump With Me

I had originally planned to write about my action plan for launching my new book. Then I realized we need to take a quantum jump on this publishing journey that will assist in the stages of planning a promotional action plan. Even with the best action plan things don't always often work because we have some kinks to work out in our personality that act as sabotages. It is not only true for this journey but for most goals we pursue.

The Myers-Briggs Indicator Types of personality test is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. You can read more about the history of the test here-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator. Finding out my personality type help me to understand why I write in the genres of visionary fiction, metaphysics, fantasy, spirituality. I took the Myers-Briggs test years ago but decided to do it again. I received the same results. The four letter code-ENFJ. Yes, that's me. I'm an extrovert, with an intuitive, feeling and judging personality. The test results give a detailed explanation of each coded letter. You can take the test at the following website for free: http://www.truity.com/.

As an extrovert, intuitive, feeling and judging personality, I like to take the lead. When I was a young girl during the summer months, I would take all the neighborhood children to the library. I would also hold classroom sessions to discuss the books each one borrowed. ENFJs likes to share their wisdom, teach, and help humanity.

I use the MBIT to help me identify my weaknesses and strengths to reach my chief aim. My strength as an extrovert-a social person-works in my favor in a profession that requires one to promote books in front of large groups of people both online and offline. At book fairs, I would always stand in front of the book table to capture people's attention as they moved around the fair. I always sold out. My weakness is I am too critical of myself and others.

By knowing your personality type, you can also learn how to use your strengths and weaknesses to accomplish your chief aim and devise your action plan in order for your book to land on one of the many bestseller lists.

I would like to hear from you. Let me know if these articles are helping you and how you are doing to accomplish your chief aim.

Five Days of Darkness, the first book in the Rankin Family Series, will be FREE on 9/23 and 9/24. Book 2, Secrets and Serpents, goes live this Tuesday, 9/23.

I appreciate your support. 10% of all book proceeds go to the Hydrocephalus Association in honor of my son, Antoine Aparicio (1984-2001).

5 Key Steps for Psychology of Book Success

You believe that you a great book. It’s your dream. The cover is appealing. The format is perfect, and the story will keep the reader turning the pages. But it’s not selling at the level of being a bestselling book. You promote your book through social media, advertising and even hiring a book marketing promoter. The selling numbers are good, but it doesn't last long. I discovered that a large percentage of promoting books is about the psychology of success.

The psychology of book success starts with knowing what you want. Do you just want to write a book, publish it and tell family and friends about it? Do you want to expand your list to include social media contacts? Do you want to be an Amazon bestselling author and/or New York Times bestselling author? Do you want to be a famous international, rich, successful author? You define what you desire and what success means to you.

Have you ever wondered why a book that you consider a wreck is a bestseller? I guarantee you that if you interviewed the author, he would say he knew what he wanted, and he stayed the course against all odds.

Here’s what I learned. The first step is to write out exactly what you desire. Write a detailed description based on your visualization of what you desire. Be sure to include touchy-feely words.  If you don’t have a Definite Chief Aim, you won’t get the results you want for your writing career. It’s like wanting apples but planting seeds for oranges. Napoleon Hill, the author of several international bestsellers on motivational literature, defines the Definite Chief Aim as a burning desire or a definite purpose in your life. Of course, you can have more than one chief aim.

The second step you must do with your Definite Chief Aim is lock it in your subconscious mind. We manifest everything we desire in the  subconscious mind. Dreams become a reality. Once you have planted it in your subconscious mind, then you can select thoughts that harmonize with your Chief Aim. The thing to remember is your thoughts create your world. By the time, you get to the promotional events for your book you’ll have created an environment based on success.

You have written out your Definite Chief Aim, locked it into your subconscious mind and now you want to place it somewhere you can review it daily or as often as needed to keep you focus. Add a gratitude statement and explain how you will give a service or pay forward.

Set specific times to review your progress and determine what needs to be added, deleted or changed from your Definite Chief Aim. Throughout the years, I have changed my Definite Chief Aim several times based on my emotional, mental and spiritual growth as an individual and gained knowledge of the publishing industry.

Lastly, put an action plan into play to guarantee success. If you follow the above steps, it's not hard to do.  Let me know how you do. I have locked in my Definite Chief Aim for my latest book, Secrets and Serpents. http://amzn.to/ZlVMql Learn more about my action plan in the next blog.

I'm Like Alice Looking Down the Rabbit Hole But Quantum Jumping

The Golden Ratio
I love writing. By the age of nine, I knew I wanted to write books and share them with others. At that young age, I sent my stories written on lined paper with a number #2 pencil to a  publisher, only to receive a nicely-worded rejection letter. Fast forward a few decades later, I tried again with the same results. Not one to give up, I discovered Publishing on Demand. iUniverse.com published my first book, Path to Truth: a Guide to Higher Unconsciousness.*  Veterans in the publishing industry gave me the following advice. First, don’t quite your day job; you won’t make any money in this field. Good luck.
Again fast forward four years later, I had my first novel, Life is Never as It Seems, published in 2005, by Genesis Press. Two years later Genesis published the sequel, It’s Not Over Yet. Nevertheless,  I decided to reinvent my publishing career by letting  go of the literary agent and publisher.  I was free to do what I wanted to do. The publishing industry was undergoing a revolution with Publishing on Demand and eBooks. I became a gate jumper. A gate jumper is one who thinks out of the box and not necessarily follow the established rules of publishing. You can read about how I made the shift to become a gate jumper in my 2009 blog: I'm a Gate Jumper:Rethinking the Publishing Industry. http://bit.ly/1oYPXnY
It worked for me. I self-published my third book-Secrets Unraveled. (http://amzn.to/WH3HwR) It became an Amazon bestseller for over three years. I do believe you can accumulate money in the publishing industry as a writer, especially now with the eBook and Amazon changing the publishing landscape. My daughter, Michelle Carey’s first book, Church Chick, (http://amzn.to/1w7Swg0) published by Sunrai Multimedia, LLC., has done extremely well. She is a quantum jumper.
By now you may be wondering what quantum jumping is and what does it have to do with the publishing industry. Quantum jumping is based on the principle of Quantum Physics that if we observe something it becomes real for us. When you quantum jump, you envision what you desire in your world by imagining, feeling  and acting as if you already have what you desire. Mathew Cross, author of The Divine Code of Da Vinci, Fibonacci, Einstein & You and Millionaire’s Map, stated in Personal Transformation - The Secret Power of Chaos.(http://matthewcross.com/chaos.htm). “By letting our imagination soar through ideal scenarios and feeling them as if they are "real" - in the present tense - we set the stage for miracles in our lives.”  You also set the stage for the Law of Attraction to kick in and like a magnet, it pulls to you what you’re focusing on.
As I prepare to launch my latest novel, Secrets and Serpents, (http://amzn.to/1qHnzL2) I decided to blog about the quantum jumping process I am using to reach my chief aim-goal- of making my book more visible to the world. You can have a great book, but if no one knows about it, the book doesn’t sell or sell as well as you want.  I already know quantum principles work from my life experiences. Blogging about it is a technique to keep me focus on my goal. Additionally, I want to share the process with you. These quantum steps will work in any area of your life.
