National Poetry Month-Khalil Gibran


In honor of National Poetry Month, I'm featuring A Visit From Wisdom, by the intuitive and renown  poet- Khalil Gibran. It is truly inspiring and insightful. Enjoy.
Khalil Gibran, was a Lebanese American artist, poet, and writer. Born in the town of Bsharri in modern-day Lebanon (then part of the Ottoman Mount Lebanon mutasarrifate), as a young man he emigrated with his family to the United States where he studied art and began his literary career. He is chiefly known in the English speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet, an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose.

A Visit From Wisdom
In the stillness of night Wisdom came and stood
By my bed. She gazed upon me like a tender mother
And wiped away my tears, and said : 'I have heard
The cry of your spirit and I am come to comfort it.
Open your heart to me and I shall fill it with light.
Ask of me and I shall show you the way of truth.'

And I said : 'Who am I, Wisdom, and how came
I to this frightening place? What manner of things
Are these mighty hopes and these many books and
Strange patterns ? What are these thoughts that pass
As doves in flight? And these words composed by
Desire and sung by delight, what are they? What are
These conclusions, grievous and joyous, that embrace
My spirit and envelop my heart? And those
Eyes which look at me seeing into my depths and
Fleeing from my sorrows ? And those voices mourning
My days and chanting my littleness, what are they ?

'What is this youth that plays with my desires
And mocks at my longings, forgetful of yesterday's
Deeds, rejoicing in paltry things of the moment,
Scornful of the morrow's coming?

'What is this world that leads me whither I know
Not, standing with me in despising? And this earth
That opens wide its mouth to swallow bodies and
Lets evil things to dwell on its breast? What is this
Creature that is satisfied with the love of fortune,
Whilst beyond its union is the pit? Who seeks Life's
Kiss whilst Death does smite him, and brings the
Pleasure of a minute with a year of repentance, and
Gives himself to slumber the while dreams call him?
What is he who flows with the rivers of folly to the
Sea of darkness? O Wisdom, what manner of things
Are these?'

And she answered, saying :
'You would see, human creature, this world
Through the eyes of a god. And you would seek to
Know the secrets of the hereafter with the thinking
Of men. Yet in truth is this the height of folly.
'Go you to the wild places and you shall find
There the bee above the flowers and behold the eagle
Swooping down on his prey. Go you into your neighbor's
House and see then the child blinking at the
Firelight and his mother busied at her household
Tasks. Be you like the bee and spend not the days of
Spring looking on the eagle's doing. Be as the child
And rejoice in the firelight and heed not your Mother's affairs. 
All that you see with your eyes was And is for your sake.

'The many books and the strange patterns and
Beautiful thoughts are the shades of those spirits
That came ere you were come. The words that you
Do weave are a bond between you and your brothers.
The conclusions, grievous and joyous, are the
Seeds that the past did scatter in the field of the
Spirit to be reaped by the future. That youth who
Plays with your desires is he who will open the door
Of your heart to let enter the light. This earth with
The ever open mouth is the savior of your spirit from
The body's slavery. This world which walks with
You is your heart; and your heart is all that you

I previously read the first edition of PATH TO TRUTH and enjoyed it but this revised SPIRITUAL MEMOIR is more fascinating. I agree with other reviewers that the book is easy to read and I recommend it highly.

Are You Afraid of Friday the 13th ?

Paraskavedekatriaphobia or Trishkaidekphobia

If you are afraid of the date Friday 13th, then you have Paraskavedekatriaphobia. You may fear leaving your home or making any plans on Friday the 13th because you  fear something negative will happen. And this year we have already had two of them, February 13th and March 13th. The third one will take place on November 13, 2009. Those who fear this date will be happy to know that this triple combination will not come again until 2012, when there is a non-leap year.
I know there are disasters that support the unlucky energy attached to this date and number such as Apollo 13, and the mass killing of the Templars on Friday 13, 1307. But it is really unlucky or another one of those ancient truths that has been distorted in history. And based on the Law of Attraction, if we think Friday the 13th is unlucky than we will attract negative things to us.

However, it is interesting that the founding fathers of the USA, who were Masons, revered the number so much they designed the dollar bill around it.

·  13 vertical bars on the shield
·  13 steps on the Pyramid
·  13 leaves on the olive branch
·  13 berries on the olive branch
·  13 elements on either side of the base of    Washington's portrait (8 leaves + 5 berries)

Here are some additional facts about the number 13: 

It is one of the Fibonacci Numbers. A Fibonacci Number can be defined as a number that is the sum of the two preceding numbers--the sequence would be 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,45,79, and so on  

There are also 13 moons. When you divide the year up by moons, you get 13 moons of 28 days each, plus one extra day.

There were 12 disciples and Jesus, the Christ, made the 13th and the same with King Arthur and his 12 knights.
In the Tarot deck, the number 13 is the card of death. It doesn't refer to physical death, but refers to the releasing of old beliefs to allow for changes.--new beginnings. 13/4 is also one of the four karmic numbers. 
If you’re born on the 13th, your life path is the 13th, or the compound number of your name total 1ebt from a past life need to be pay in the form of hard work and discipline. The 3 is about self expression and being social. You have to be careful with the spoken word and the tendency to let others do the work for you.

What Does Nephomancy Have To Do With Dr. King?


Nephomancy is the divination of studying clouds to depict any shapes or forms that have materialized by the fluffy white matter and what message they might hold. I’m sure most of us have looked up at the sky and thought we have seen a  formation of an angel, a person, an animal, a cross or flower, to name a few. Some even believe there is a hidden message that comes with seeing these forms.  Recently, I had my own Nephomancy experience. 
 
Last week my grandchildren were visiting me during spring break, and like many grandparents I had planned activities to keep them happy and busy.  One of the places we decided to visit was  the Martin Luther King, Jr, National Memorial located in Washington, D. C. What a beautiful day it was with plenty of tourists from all over the world admiring the magnificent memorial. I was proud of my granddaughters for knowing so much about King. They read each one of the quotes posted on the wall surrounding the memorial. It was a heartfelt experience to see them connect with the works of Dr. King.

We took several photos as mementos, and I quickly posted one on my Facebook page. Looking at the posted photo, I noticed in the photo that in the clouds surrounding the statue of Dr. King were several faces.  I stared at it for a very long time and decided that yes there were faces.My next thought was what does it mean? 

I remembered entering the memorial and feeling and sensing  a high vibratory energy.  I felt this same energy of well-being and oneness with everything in the Universe in Glastonbury (the Heart Chakra of the Universe) and in the crop circles in Wiltshire, UK. I intuit that the faces in the clouds confirm that the King memorial is special. Like the pyramids in Egypt, the sun shines on it at a certain angle, the water, trees and what Dr. King stood for –justice and equality-makes it  an energy vortex.  Further, the message is Dr. King was not alone in his struggles and neither are we as we continue to stand for Truth. I believe there is an even deeper message dealing with slavery and the forefathers of this country.
